About our reports

My Character Report, Inc. (MCR) prepares consumer reports for rental housing decisions and follows the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and applicable state law. An MCR report is built with your participation: you supply information and documents, we preview the findings with you, and the report is released to the property only after you authorize it.

The property makes the decision

MCR does not approve or decline rental applications. The property you applied to decides, using its own criteria together with the MCR report and anything else it considers. MCR cannot guarantee that any application will be approved.

If your application is declined

If a property declines your application based in whole or in part on an MCR report, MCR will send you a written notice. It lists the factors the property identified, tells you how to contact MCR, and explains your right to a free copy of your report and to dispute its accuracy or completeness. MCR did not make the decision and cannot tell you why the property made it.

Your rights under the FCRA

You have the right to know what is in your file, to dispute incomplete or inaccurate information, and to have information corrected or deleted if it is inaccurate, incomplete or cannot be verified. Ratings and clearance letters

An MCR Good Conduct Rating or Clearance Letter is MCR’s assessment based on the information available to us when the report was prepared, including what you told us. It is not a guarantee of future conduct, and it is only as complete as the records and information we could obtain.

Pricing

The release payment is $2.50 for applications without any criminal history and $25.00 for applications with a criminal history and an MCR Good Conduct Rating. These prices include the registered MCR End-User discount of $22.50 off MCR Basic report pricing. You pay only when you authorize the release of your final report. See our Refund Policy.
