These terms apply to your use of www.mycharacterreport.com, the MCR applicant and property portals, and the services of My Character Report, Inc. (“MCR”). By using the site or our services you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

1. Our service

MCR prepares rental background reports with the participation of the applicant. We research an applicant’s identification, financial capacity, address and criminal history, preview the findings with the applicant, and release a final report to the property only after the applicant certifies it and makes the release payment.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement to use our services.

3. Accounts and security

Keep your login details and report PIN private, and tell us right away if you think someone else has used them. You are responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend an account that is misused.

4. Information you provide

Applicants agree to give complete and truthful information and genuine documents. By submitting your MCR Pre-Qual application you authorize MCR to obtain and verify information about you as described in the authorization in that application. If you give false information or altered documents, we may stop work on your report.

5. Review, release and payment

You receive a review copy of your final report before it is released. The report is released to the property only after you certify it and make the release payment, and you may stop the release by not making the payment. Prices and refunds are described in our Disclosure & Disclaimer and Refund Policy.

6. Property users

Properties and their staff may use MCR reports only to evaluate the applicant’s rental application, as the FCRA permits, and must keep reports confidential. Properties agree to tell MCR their decision on each application, including the factors behind a decline, so that MCR can send any required notices to the applicant.

7. Acceptable use

Do not try to open accounts, reports or documents that are not yours, interfere with the site, upload harmful files, or use the site for any unlawful purpose.

8. Intellectual property

The site, the MCR name and logo, and our report formats belong to My Character Report, Inc. Do not copy or reuse them without our written permission.

9. Disclaimers

We work to make every report accurate and complete, but our research depends on records and information from others, including you. The site and services are provided “as is.” To the extent the law allows, MCR disclaims all other warranties. MCR does not make rental decisions and does not guarantee any outcome.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, MCR is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim about our services is limited to the amount you paid MCR for the report involved. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Fair Credit Reporting Act or other laws that cannot be waived.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and applicable federal law. Any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts serving Collin County, Texas, unless the law gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. The version posted on this page applies from the date shown above.
